Jieh Power Plant

August 15, 2006 Comments Off on Jieh Power Plant News

On the 17th of July 2006 the Israel airplanes raided the Jieh  power plant located at 35 Km south of Beirut .

The power plant is capable of holding around 80000 tons of fuel oil.

The bombing of the fuel tanks lead to the drift of more than 10000 tons of fuel oil in the sea. The spill of oil made a huge layer of 30 to 50 cm thick and several kilometers long contaminating the Lebanese and neighboring countries sea shores .

Following the survey number 3506/B dated 23/08/2006, the ministry of environment appointed Mr. Elie Eid Manager of the company NAVY GROUP INT. to give a full report of the contaminated areas as follow in the survey.
